On Day 1 of the 5th Test between India and Australia in Sydney, India elected to bat but struggled against Australia’s disciplined bowling attack. The visitors were bowled out for a modest 185 runs in 72.2 overs. Scott Boland led the charge for Australia with figures of 4/31, supported by Mitchell Starc (3/49) and Pat Cummins (2/37).

 

India’s batting highlights included Rishabh Pant’s resilient 40 off 98 balls, featuring three boundaries and a six, and some late hitting by captain Jasprit Bumrah, who scored 22 off 17 balls. However, India lost wickets at regular intervals, with KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Virat Kohli all failing to convert their starts.

In response, Australia ended the day at 9/1 after three overs, with Bumrah dismissing Usman Khawaja in the last over of the day. At stumps, Australia trailed by 176 runs with nine wickets in hand. Indian bowlers looking forward to get early wickets tomorrow morning.
