A fire started in the DJ booth that proved difficult to put out and the game was brought to a halt for several minutes in the 36th match between Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes. But fortunately no damages done for anyone.
“Play delayed due to fire, I never thought I would see that,” Haddin said.
“Gilly never did I think I would be standing on the boundary reporting an electrical fire,” Eloise Sohier said.
“There still is a bit of smoke around the scoreboard. They have evacuated the chairs around it perhaps trying to move them to somewhere else in the Stadium.
“But it is a sellout here at The Gabba this evening, so where they are going to get placed, who knows.
“Obviously the safety of everyone is of most importance.
“It looks like it has been put out. There is a number of fire extinguishers working on it right now.”
Play eventually resumed with the Hurricanes batters dominating at 0-68 after six overs.
