Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the full-time head coach of the Sri Lankan men’s cricket team. His appointment, effective from October 1, 2024, follows a successful interim stint that began earlier this year. He will serve as head coach until March 2026, including leading the team through the next T20 World Cup.

Jayasuriya’s interim tenure saw notable success, such as Sri Lanka winning a bilateral ODI series against India for the first time in 27 years, and a historic Test victory over England at The Oval. His first assignment as full-time coach will be Sri Lanka’s upcoming home series against the West Indies, starting on October 13.
